Little Blue Mountain Daylight Peak Bagging- Nov 16th 2024

 With the still warm November weather had the opportunity to get in a quick peak bagging mission on Saturday November 16th. This would be a revisit to Little Blue Mountain which I bagged in September. 

Little Blue Mountain Peak Night Bagging Sept 14th 2024

The peak bagging on Sept 14th was for me a first night ascent, first night peak bagging, and first night descent for me. This time would be bagging it in daylight. So on November 16th headed out to get in the daylight one.

This would probably be the last peak bag of 2024. Especially with the Dirtbag Ute being down and needing mechanical work. Which is on hold as am still waiting on some lawyer related stuff to be finished.

Definitely different doing this in daylight with a clear sky and sun then at night with a bar light and helmet light.

 Definitely different view at night as you can see way out over the St Lawrence River. 

There is potentially more trail or at least ATV aka double track around Little Blue Mountain that could be rideable. However that would be for another adventure road trip 

After descending it was back towards where parked the vehicle with mission accomplished. That being the for me first mtb ascent, peak bag, and descent of Little Blue Mountain during daylight. Once back at the vehicle loaded up and headed to Starbuck's for a post peak bag treat.

While not a big adventure like the other ones nor a ride that lasted a few hours. It was still a good day out.

Massassauga Conservation Area Nov 9th 2024 Ride and Search For A Fallen Warrior

 It was three days before Remembrance Day and having recently done Arney Mountain for the 3rd time earlier wanted to do something different.

730 Day's Of Riding- Arney Mtn Oct 19th 2024

Thinking about what kind of ride and where to do before Remembrance Day suddenly had an idea. Remembering my FB Friend Raf had his good buddy who was a member of the RCAF and had passed away January 2010 while stationed at RCAF Trenton. And he had visited his memorial maker and ridden in the Conservation Area. The idea was would go down and attempt to find the memorial marker. And like Raf do a ride in the conservation area after.

On Saturday with the Dirtbag Ute broke down and needing work borrowed a vehicle. And headed to Belleville and the conservation area. A wee road trip and adventure before Remembrance Day. A former Seaforth seeking a memorial marker of soldier who passed away.

Sadly wasn't able to find the memorial marker. As said in the YouTube video it has been at least 5-6 years and the area has changed. Meaning that there is a bunch of trees knocked down from the wind and could be hiding the marker under them.

While not successful in finding the memorial marker for Cpl Pawel Basko I think it matters that someone went to look and see if they could find it. And being before Remembrance Day clean up the marker. Hopefully one day it will be found and the location can be nailed down to make it easier for others to visit one of our fallen.

731 Day's Of Riding- Arney Mtn Oct 19th 2024

 Saturday Oct 19th 2024 would mark a unofficial streak or milestone. That bein 2 year since first rode outdoors again after my July 28th major knee surgery. October 19th 2022 was the first ride outdoors.

365 Days Riding Since Major Knee Surgery Oct 19th 2023

Oct 19th 2022 would be 730 days of rides. Meaning every day outdoors. No matter the weather nor abysmal Kingston snow plowing ops.

With the weather being warmer and water levels lower than last year. And with the idea of doing something of an adventure to do on ride day 730 aka 2 years straight. Thinking of how the water levels are lower had the idea to attempt something couldn't last year.

So headed up to Wagarville east of Parham to first bag the summit of Arney Mountain for the 3rd time. This time with the addition of the idea to attempt to once bagged the summit and descended to push down the Unmaintained Road as far as I could.

Before descending though cleaned up a pile of empty beer cans left by those using non meant engines means. Funny how one powered by a meat engine can haul it all down while those with easier means do not.

After successfully pushing as far south I could and getting back to the Dirtbag Ute. Headed south on Highway 38 and with lots of day light left. Headed to check out a area where have heard of some riding taking place. However when got there heard periodic rifle firing. Figured a local was zeroing their rifle prior to one of the Fall hunting scenes. No biggie, let that person have their time in the woods in the sand pit, 

So instead headed to another spot along the Napanee River where there was something wanted to ride for fun. That bit of fun can be seen in the YouTube video linked above.

After riding that  pulled out the fire pit and fired it up to have a small bit of warmth as I wanted to see the sunset. Plus would be a test of the dirtbag repair of the collapsible firepit.  After that made some Ramen type noodles as well as soup. Then watched the sunset and the stars slowly appear.

Then it was time to load up and head home with ride day 731 done.731 days of straight riding since recovered from major knee surgery. An achievement according to a friend.
